-Hello, my name is Sabrina Victor. I am currently a sophomore at Orange High School and today I will be interviewing...
-Shantay Anderson.. I go to Trenton High West and I'm a senior.
-Have you ever considered dropping out of school?
-No
-Why?
-I have stuff that I want to do with my life and I don't want to take that all away and be a failure basically.
-Why do you think children drop out of high school?
-Because they are influenced by the wrong crowd and there isn't anyone there to push them.
-What do you think we as a society can do to lower the high rates of dropouts in high school?
-Well first we can get a better education system because the one we have in our towns aren't very good. In my school for example, the way they teach us based upon the tests we take like the HSPA aren't efficient. We don't learn much and because of that, the kids know that probably think "oh well why am I here? I'm not leaning anything. I'm only learning about things on the tests and not anything that will help me in life. " And our community contributes to the rates as well. Those who drop out are influenced by their environment so we need to better our communities.
-How do you think the high rates in drop outs affects us as a community?
-Well high rates usually result in many teenage pregnancies and more people may following after the footsteps of those who dropped out. In conclusion, it will affect us negatively.
-What key factors do you believe provoke teenagers to drop out of high school?
-Their friends, lack of care for school, and the urge to make fast money quickly.
-How do you think those who have dropped out of high school will impact those who are still in high school ?
-Those who have dropped out can either influence others to drop out of high school or be an example of what not to do. They can encourage them to stay in school, go to college, have a career and do something with their lives.
-Thank you for allowing me to interview you.
-Your welcome.
